Wearing Memory: How My Designs Connect With Cultural Identity

Ankara fabric and old African family photos used as design inspiration

When people ask what inspires my designs, I usually say “memory.”

Not a trend, or runway moment but  memory.
Of my mother tying her wrapper.
Of aunties dancing in sequins at an owambe.
Of old wedding photos, faded but glowing.

At Chi & Stainless, every design carries that spirit.
I’m not just sewing clothes, I’m restoring stories.

“Layers of Memory”

Design as Ancestral Dialogue

When I design, I imagine conversations across generations:
“What would my grandmother wear if she were 28 today?”
“How can I honor her style without copying it?”

That question shapes every seam.

💬 Fashion That Feels Familiar

When women wear Chi & Stainless, I want them to feel seen not because they fit in, but because they belong.

This brand is my bridge between past and present.
And I’ll keep crossing it, one collection at a time.
